Cultural activities to improve linguistic skills

Culture as part of the learning process

Since language is a vehicle for French culture, the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS) combine their French programs with cultural or artistic events taking place in Paris.

The CCFS  organize various cultural activities, choirs, photo workshops and even literary cafés that are part of the student’s curriculum, these activities serving as enhancers in the process of learning French.

In cooperation with associative partners, outings are organized in order to better combine language training and discovery of French heritage. The French Civilization Courses at the Sorbonne also give each student the opportunity to build up a professional and personal network, which will be of great help for learning French and promote their career.

Faithful to a tradition of excellence, professors at the CCFS take pride in making students aware of some major cultural issues and events : another way to significantly improve both the language skills of the learners and their culture in general.

A Culture-related curriculum at the CCFS

With the CCFS, students can also enroll in a preparatory class dedicated to the art market and cultural productions.

The art market is an attractive sector for a lot of people who wish to work in sales, purchase and promotion of cultural productions. This market therefore includes museums, art galleries, art fairs and other structures whose purpose is to promote artistic creation.

The professional and commercial approach to the world of cultural production requires a solid knowledge of French language in order to communicate with the main actors, artists, producers, broadcasters and of course the public.

The program designed by the CCFS will help student to master a vocabulary specific to cultural activities; remember that in 2023, France remains an international center for art exhibitions, museums and galleries, concerts and festivals, etc. thus making French language essential for professionals active in the art market.
