These online courses are an attractive option for those who wish to learn French in a flexible way, while benefiting from comprehensive training.

The courses are taught online via videoconference and cover a wide range of topics, including grammar, conjugation, spelling, vocabulary, and the approach to literary texts. These courses are designed to help students strengthen their French skills in a comprehensive way, both in writing and speaking, and are adapted to different levels, from beginners to advanced, to meet the individual needs of learners.

This perfect adaptation to the availability and objectives of each student makes this course an ideal option for those who have busy schedules but still want to improve their French.

Program Information:

Students who also wish to strengthen their oral skills can, in addition to this formula, opt for the Saturday online oral expression course (CL3S). This monthly course is offered via videoconference, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., over 4 weeks (12 hours of lessons in total).

Course Objectives

  • Improve French proficiency (grammar, conjugation, spelling, vocabulary, approach to literary texts, etc.).
  • Reinforce and structure already acquired language knowledge.
  • Develop general French level through work on the 5 skills (listening, speaking, interacting, reading, writing).

 
The monthly online evening course offers students the opportunity to progress at their own pace. Adapted to beginner, intermediate or advanced levels, it promotes interactivity and will allow students to discover the French language or strengthen their level.

Detailed Program​

These courses are offered every month from June to April according to the reference calendar available in the downloadable brochure.

The CL05 monthly online evening course offers 24 hours of general French lessons over 4 weeks.

The times indicated in the schedule below are CET, Paris time.

The distribution of lesson hours per week depends on the student’s level:

  • Beginner (A1):
    – Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: 2 hours of general French.
    – Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: 2 hours of general French.
    – Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: 2 hours of general French.
  • Intermediate (A2-B1) and Advanced (B2-C1):
    – Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: 2 hours of general French.
    – Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: 2 hours of general French.
    – Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: 2 hours of general French.

Assessment & Certification

  • Continuous assessment (regular evaluation of work and progress).
  • A language certificate from the Cours de civilisation française de la Sorbonne is awarded upon successful completion.
  • A certificate attesting to the number of hours of courses taken is issued at the end of the month.

Target Audience

This training is aimed at an audience that is often already integrated into French life through their profession or private life and who wish to improve their level of French.

Prerequisites

You must be at least 18 years old and hold a diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education.

This training requires basic knowledge of French. The student must have a beginner (A1), intermediate (A2-B1) or advanced (B2-C1) level.

A quality Internet connection (allowing in particular the use of videoconferencing) and computer equipment consisting of a camera, microphone and headphones (headset recommended) are required to follow the courses.

Course Materials

Course textbooks, audio and visual materials, exercise books, reading books, access to online resources, communication materials, cultural materials, and materials for group activities.

Visa

This course meets the criteria for obtaining a student visa for non-EU students.

Registration Procedures

  • Admission to the course is only final when payment is complete (at least one month before the start of the course) and after validation of the registration file.
  • A certificate of registration is issued after payment of a deposit and presentation of administrative documents (copy of identity document, translation of secondary school leaving certificate, identity photo).
  • A mandatory online placement test assigns a level to students before the start of the course. A supplementary test may be requested from the student in certain specific cases.
  • Registration is done online on this site.
  • Annual registration fees of 75 euros apply upon registration (a special discount of 40 euros is granted on online courses).
