The Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne does not offer this type of service. The two Parisian airports (Orly and Charles de Gaulle) are on a direct underground line and thus accessible by public transport. To come to the Sorbonne, you have to take RER B and get off at the Luxembourg station.

The possibility to validate a diploma of the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne depends on each universities.

Once you have registered in Paris, you will be asked to sit a placement test intended to assess your level of French and place you in a class corresponding to this level.

The Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne organizes its students into five levels: beginner, elementary, intermediate, advanced, and superior, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference.

All students who enrol during the registration period and meet the age, diploma and visa conditions are guaranteed a place on our courses at their level (provided that they accept the timetable they are proposed).
Our welcome service helps all students already registered to look for a hostel or a host family. You can also consult the page of useful links in our Practical Information section.
This small test consists of a dictation, grammar questions and a short composition. It is not eliminatory (all registered students are accepted into a class corresponding to their level). All of our students must sit it.
Depending on the number of places available and the level, you can indicate your preferences during the language and phonetics tests.

At the F010 level, you can improve your competence in written and spoken French at all levels. In the Pre-university section, the French language is acquired; you specialise in literature and economics.

The seminars available in the pre-university section impose a fixed timetable. You can switch from one to the other if your level, determined by the entrance test, so allows.

F022 is reserved for intermediate-level students and, to make it more accessible to them, civilisation is taught in seminars in the classroom instead of lectures.

If you are not a resident of the European Union (including Iceland, Norway and Switzerland), you have to make a preregistration application for any session of more than three months (90 days).

We will then send you a preregistration certificate. This document is necessary to apply for a visa from the French Consulate or Embassy in your home country. This procedure can be long. You will then obtain a temporary visa.

It is only when you have paid for your final registration in Paris that you will be able to obtain the "student" residence permit (for the duration of the course) from the Préfecture.

All of the courses are held on the Left Bank, near the Sorbonne.
