1. Application scope of the terms and conditions of subscription

The terms and conditions of registration issued here determine the obligations and duties of the student involved in the process of registration to the teachings of the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS).

The present terms and conditions are regularly brought to the attention of the student during the pre-registration process, thus, the fact to register for CCFS implies the full and unreserved acceptance of the student to these provisions.

2. Pre-registration and registration

2.1. Minimum age

The student agrees to be at least 18 years to participate to our courses whatever the session or the course selected. No exceptions are allowed on this provision.

2.2. School level required

The student must have obtained a diploma equivalent to the French ’baccalauréat’ (bachelor’s degree) for any application to a session of courses longer than 3 months (autumn, winter, spring)

In this case, the student agrees to send to the CCFS as soon as possible the French translation of his diploma made by a sworn organization. Translation costs are on the charge of the student. The student must also take into account the period of time, sometimes very long, that the translation requires. There is no need to translate English, Spanish, German, or Portuguese diplomas.

We have to receive this document at least one month before the beginning of the corresponding session.

2.3. French level required

The CCFS are open to all levels (absolute beginners included). The level of French of the student is determined by the CCFS as soon as his registration is complete. A compulsory written and oral French test determines its level and so the section the student will belong to.

2.4. Residence permit and visa

If you want to study in France for a period of more than 3 months, you have to request before you leave to the consular authorities a ‘student’ long-term visa.

To obtain a visa, you first have to pre-register and send the French translation of your diploma to the CCFS. Then, we will send you a certificate of pre-registration which will allow you to make your request for a long-term visa.

You can then enter France and register for the course you have chosen. You will receive a registration certificate once you have registered; you can then go to the Préfecture of your place of residence to apply for a residence permit.

Warning:

-  You have to pre-register at least on month before the start of the courses.
-  The pre-registration does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.
-  The pre-registration is not a reservation. There’s no way to book a place in advance. You have to be physically present at our secretariat during the registration period to be sure to have a place. Any reasonable delay must be notified to the secretariat of Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne at the following address: (JPEG)
-  Note: no discount will be given to students who register late.

2.5. Cases of exemption for a residence permit and visa

European Union citizens as well as Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway citizens only need a valid ID card for register.

2.6. Social Security and Mutual Insurance

Students shall have social security coverage either from Social Security or from a private company (click here).

4. Cancellation - Report - Refund

Cancellation - Refund of pre-registration

The pre-registrations are refunded only in case of the refusal of visa deliverance by the Consulate or the Embassy. In this case, you have to send us a proof of the refusal (stamp or refusal letter).

No other reason will entitle you to get a refund from your pre-registration. However, a refund might be given in some exceptional circumstances on a case by case basis if it is duly supported by relevant documents.

Postponement of the deposit of pre-registrations

Deposits paid for a pre-registration cannot be carried over a new pre-registration request.

A deposit will remain credited to the account of the future student for his final registration to another session of course for a period of one year.

Cancellation - refunding of the registration

All payments are final and not refundable, regardless of the reason for cancellation.

Every exceptional circumstance will be considered on a case by case basis and shall be duly supported by appropriate documents.
