You must have a residence permit that is valid for at least the duration of your studies.

An identity card is sufficient for European Union nationals as well as Icelandic, Norwegian and Swiss nationals. For all other nationalities, a long-stay visa is required for stays of more than three months.

To obtain a long-stay student visa, you must:

  • Return the copy of the official translation of your secondary school certificate (or a university diploma) by fax (+ 33 1 44 07 97 14), e-mail (scan of the diploma - (JPEG) ) or postal mail , to Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne, 47 rue des Ecoles, 75005 Paris, France (English, Spanish, German, or Portuguese diploma don’t need to be translate).
  • We will send you a preregistration certificate so that you can apply for a visa from the French Consulate or Embassy in your home country.
  • To facilitate administrative formalities, ensure that you come to France with an original copy of your birth certificate* translated into French by a certified translator. Translations are costly and the deadlines long.
  • The same applies to nationals of Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United Kingdom or Sweden who can obtain their European social security card in their country of origin.

You can then enter France and register for the course you have chosen.
